Last week when I went to the Fair many of the different booths had things that you could sign up and possibly win a prize. I did and I did! I won this big, big beautiful basket of Picnic supplies. I shared last week about winning it – but I wasn’t able to pick it up until today.
I was glad to save it for today – because this morning finally, I went for my CT scan and so I told myself this would be my reward for going through it. Well, the CT only took five minutes and wasn’t any trauma at all but I was still very glad to pick up my prize! The booth that was doing this, was from the Wellness Center – so all the yummies were on the healthy side!
Probably won’t get the results from the test until next Tuesday when I have an appointment with my doctor. Will let you know what I find out. Probably nothing. It’s more of a test just to make sure more than anything.

- This is Jayne who is at the front desk of the Cancer Center. She put the basket together. One of those people who just makes you happy to be around.
The book project is definitely starting to pick up speed. I shared on Catholic book talk that I am doing the layout for the book myself this time, which is a definite first. Quite a hurdle to jump – but I feel confident I can do it.
One thing I found that has helped with my confidence is a web site that has tons of tutorials on how to learn almost every major piece of software that is out there. It costs $25.00 a month.. but for that you can take any tutorial you want or several at a time. I am concentrating heavily on a 10 hour course to learn InDesign. It’s called Lynda.com – I would really reccommend checking it out if you have a new software hurdle to jump through. The ten hour course I am taking is broken up into mini videos each about one to five minutes in length. Totally, totally awesome. I can’t believe how much I have learned already.
The only drawback I can see, is that it takes every bit of discipline I have to stay at it! The tutorials are fantastic – but its hard to stay with it even so. My ADD kicks in and says, “Hey wouldn’t you like to do something else for a bit? But, I set my old timer and just go for the gold. Only way to get through it. You don’t have to go in order – you can just learn what stuff you need… but I think for me I need to just plow through it all.
What’s also neat is that you can just take a month when you have time for it. They keep your information on file – so if you want to quit for two or three months and come back – there it still is. Think it would be good for summer learning – for me, I will use it for toning up my employment skills.
