Today was a nice day. Nothing over the top, just nice. I even got a miracle. Nothing that will make it into a book or movie but one that I found comforting. The kind that seems like getting a special hug from God that says, “I’m here. I’m listening. I care.”
After Mass this morning my sister Barb and I went for a drive to get some nuts at this special nut farm in Corvallis, Oregon. It was a nice drive but neither of us had breakfast before Mass so we were hungry. We wanted to stop at a small mom and pop restaurant and have breakfast. Only thing is we didn’t know of one to stop at.
We looked at places as we drove along but nothing seemed to be open or fit the bill. We decided to get the nuts first and then look some more after. After buying the nuts we got back in the car and drove back to Albany. Nothing presented itself along the way even though we took a different route back. Finally we decided to forget it and get something from a fast foods place. Then I said I’ll pray a Hail Mary that we find just the right mom and pop place that is just what we are looking for.
So we were resigned ourselves to that although we kept looking as we drove to Walgreen’s where Barb needed to pick up something. As we drove into the parking lot we noticed a sign that sounded like a fun restaurant to try even though it was Chinese food and not the ham and eggs breakfast we had originally wanted.
Went into Walgreen’s bought the stuff she needed, came out and walked over to the restaurant. It was closed. So was another restaurant next to it but then we noticed a tiny little almost hole in the wall Mexican restaurant that was open. We said why not, since both of us do like Mexican food and at this point almost anything sounded good.
We walked in and lo and behold they served breakfast as day long! Ham and eggs just what we wanted. The lady that ran the restaurant was totally a Mom as her little young ones (all under the age of five) worked on color pages behind the counter. The food was absolutely delicious, the best pancakes I’ve ever had I think. It was such an answer to prayer!
Not a life and death answer to prayer but a very nice one. The lady who ran the restaurant was so nice and we plan to go back and try the lunch menu soon.
I think I really needed a little miracle like that today. A hug from God is what I call it and I can use all the hugs I can get. I pray you will get a hug from God today too!
